Key Projects
Caval Ridge Rail
Moranbah, Queensland
Caval Ridge Mine is the largest greenfield coal mining complex in Australia, located in the Bowen Basin of central Queensland. It produces hard metallurgical export coal for use in China, India and elsewhere as coke in steel mills. This project involved a greenfield open cut coal mine expansion with a yield of 5.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).
EXEGEN provided surveying services for the civil earthworks and rail balloon loop components of this project. The civil earthworks involved clearing, topsoil strip, bulk earthworks, pavements, heavy haulage and light vehicle roads, drainage and creek diversions for this greenfield site. The rail balloon loop involved bulk earthworks and excavation, pavements, drainage ahead of track lagging and installation of signalling, overhead power and communication systems. In addition, approximately 18km of greenfield electrified rail was installed.
